Cobblestone streets, adorable buildings with rustic facades, cute cafes with their tables spilling onto the squares, cats snoozing in shop fronts, rugged mountains looming over us from either side of the bay and the soft sound of the church bells chiming….Kotor was the biggest surprise for me on my Montenegrin adventure and I LOVED it!
Nestled at the foot of the mountains on the sea front is where you’ll find the walled Old Town of Kotor, which lies at the southern end of Boka Bay. Our hotel, Palazzo Drusko, was located in the very heart of the old town so a great location for exploring the narrow streets. We spent 2 days in Kotor which I feel like was the perfect amount of time there. The two main attractions of the area are the nearby town of Perast and Our Lady of the Rocks and the hike up the ancient city walls to the Castle of St John, which are 4.5km long and made up of 1350 steps. (we loved it so much, we did it twice!)
During out time in Kotor we also went on a half day trip to Rijeka Crnojevica at Skadar Lake National Park. I throughly recommend 360 Monte for tours, their guides were amazing and full of information.
Love your photos in Kotor! We went there November last year so we didn’t get to see much sunlight (and people) in the old town.
It’s so beautiful there isn’t it! We went in September but didn’t have too much luck with the weather. Everytime the sun would show it’s face for 5 minutes we made a mad dash for the streets with our camera haha!
