Back in January we had the pleasure of staying at the wonderful Kayakapi Premium Cave hotel in Ürgüp, Cappadocia.
The hotel, which is sprawled over a hillside overlooking a stunning view of the town below, consists of beautifully restored cave dwellings in the historic Kayakapi neighborhood which dates back to the 18th and 19th century.
Even after staying just 1 night, it comes as no surprise to me that Kayakapi has won many awards on Tripadvisor. The hospitality, attention to detail and overall quality was outstanding.
The mountainside hotel has an amazing wine cellar where you can taste local wines, Manzara bistro restaurant, a gym, an outdoor swimming pool, a spa which houses a stunning hamam (Turkish bath) and Maide Restaurant where the most delicious breakfast buffet is served each morning. It’s a great place to stay if you’re looking for privacy, luxury and peace.
The one thing I’m not a fan of is the fact that this hotel is quite far out and not within walking distance to shops or any of the main sites of Cappadocia. They offer a free shuttle to the nearby town of Ürgüp where you can either take a taxi or a dolmus to other places but we had to wait a little while until it was available.
Our luxury suite, 108, was everything I could want in a cave room. It was large, lavish and authentically decorated with beautiful antiques. A really nice touch was a newspaper article showing how our room used to look before the Dinler family beautifully restored it.
The suite was split into 4 sections. The living room area as you enter, the bedroom area, the large bathroom (with a door to your very own Turkish bath) and the pièce de résistance and best thing about the room *drum roll please* your very own indoor cave swimming pool!
Yes, you read that right…. a pool… in a cave… in the room.
Having spent my whole life choosing which hotels to stay in based solely on their swimming pools, this is pretty much my dream.

As you enter the room you’ll walk into the cosy living room where you’ll find the mini bar, one of the televisions, an extra bed, the fireplace and a really nice chill out sofa area…
The bedroom area with the comfiest bed, a second television, coffee machine, desk area and behind me in the photo was a dining table and a small balcony area….
Bvlgari products..always a nice touch to find one of my favourite brands in the bathroom…
